BYOV Components

This program is set up to educate you on health issues from two perspectives. One is the background of the conventional veterinary world with a deep understanding of diseases and their treatments. Then there is a second look at every condition from a holistic standpoint.

This will allow you to take control of your pet’s health and be able to decide on the way you want to treat conditions, or more importantly, prevent conditions. You will be able to have a discussion with your veterinarian with enough knowledge so that you can be an active pet owner.

It all starts with the foundation course, an ever-expanding library of webinars on health topics.

.

  1. It begins with Veterinary Anatomy, Physiology, and Terminology. I want you  to have the resource so that you know the science behind the diseases and  your pet’s body. You want to be able to talk to the vet logically, understanding their language.
  2. Next up is General Exams and Treatment. I show you how to do an exam at home and even restrain exotics in case you like to work with them. Then we have euthanasia so that you understand the process and how you can make it the best experience you possibly can during a stressful time. This finishes with home skills, such as - do you know the ebay way to trim nails?
  3. Then we move into orthopedic diseases. Yes, we review the diagnosis of many diseases such as hip, elbow, and even cruciate issues, but this is where you’ll see the holistic parts coming. The best way to treat arthritis without drugs.
  4. The biggest section is Diseases and Conditions. Set up as a map through every organ system, we delve into diseases that affect the systems like kidneys, liver, pancreas, lungs, and so much more. Even eye diseases are included.
  5. Then we start holistic treatments. A collection of webinars and books on methods to treat in these healthy way.
  6. This is rounded off with reproduction, behavior, and parasites. Think of the questions you have on the effect of sterilization and what it does to health, making you question when to do it.

What this does is create a powerful platform of material that helps you with understanding the body, diseases, and even how to treat, in a holistic way. This is how you can become confident in your knowledge wo that you’ll understand what your veterinarian is saying and be able to have a great conversation with them.

The best part is what I call Office Hours. Every month I have 4, sometimes 5 webinars dedicated for the Become Your Own Vet group. The topics are ones that I pick or they are decided by you as a member of the group.

Suppose you have a cat with kidney disease. That will be on the agenda. Office Hours started June 2023 and you can figure out how many there are in the library now and it builds every month. If the topic is suitable, it goes into the course.

For example, I just talked about the vertebrae (an anatomy course is included), reproductive diseases, pancreatitis in cats, and intestinal parasites. Each of these had the conventional material there - symptoms, diagnosis, and even treatment, but then I delve into the holistic world.

There is a lot of practical experience that comes out and it is all geared for one thing - to help you navigate the discussion with your veterinarian so that you can take control. And that control is looking through the lens of a holistic practitioner that is guiding you through this journey.

I am the instructor, but you can think of me as your personal veterinarian. Imagine being able to come to a Zoom with me 8 times every month and being able to ask questions. They can be related to a pet that you are having challenges with right now.

There is another part in this equation - the discussion group. This is where you can get answers from me and also from other students that have gone through what you are facing. This is used for you to do research and it serves as a launch pad for BYOV topics for me. Of course, it is open 24-7 and I aim to answer the questions every day. What we find is that every question always benefits other people.

You can become certified with the Comprehensive Pet Health Coach Certification. A quiz is released every month and available for two months. Pass twelve of those and you become certified.
